r, cortice cinereo rugoso glabro ; partes novellas chiereo-puberulce. Folia
basi acuta, vel rarius rotundata, longe attenuata, tenuia, pellucide punctata, xnargine
undolata, oblique nervosa, 4-7 poll, longa^ l-2£ lata, petiolo i-pollicari, Pedicelli
aiillares Tel ad axillas foUoruin delapsornm, pollicares, adpresse pubcruli, basi arti-
cnlati, bracteis 2-3 squamaeformibos deciduis muniti. Sepala fere rotundata. Pe-
tala coriacea, e basi lata lanceokta obtusiuscula polliearia, interiora ])arura longiora.

There is only one expanded flower on the specimen before us : this we have not
examined, but, as a memorandum on the accompanying ticket informs Us that the
ovules are solitary, we refer this plant without hesitation to Gnatteria.

Arlor. Samuli cortice griseo rugose, lenticellis albidis stepe notati, glabri; gem-
mae subtomentossc. Folia srope obliqoa, basi rotundata, apice plerumque obtosa,
mucronata, sed interdum acnminata, 4-9 poll, longa, 2-5 lata, pctiolia -^— |-pollicari-
bus, membranacea, utrinque glabra, nitida, juniora sccus costam nervosque puberula,
costa snbtus saepe tuberculata. Pedunculi ad axillas foliorum delapsorum^ secus
ramulos crassiores siti, abbreviati, validi, vix pollicares. Pedicelli filiformes, polli-
cares, incano-puberuli, infra medium bracteola caduca rotundata miraiti. Sepala
minuta, rotundata, extus pubescentia, apice recurva. Petal a 1^ poll, longa, 2 lin.
lata, longe attenuata, subaequalia, incauo-puberula. PediceUi fructus incrassati,
lignosi. Torus dilatatus, depresso-globosus, diam. i-polJ.} fulvo-tomentosus. Car-
petta 10-20, obliqua, dorso gibbosa, 1-14 P°^- longa, pcdicello ecquilongo, apice ob-
tusa et obtuse mucronata. Semen couforme. Testa cum exocarpio fragili arctc
coalita. Endospermiwn albidum, nitidum, papyraccum, transverse fibrosum.
10.  Car. Simiartun (Ham, ex Wall. Cat. 6440 !) ; foliis ovalibus
vel ovatis valide costatis, pedicellis axillaribus 2-3 fascicnlatis nudis,
petalis. lincari-oblongis obtusis interioribus longioribus.
HAB. In Silhet, Wall.! Assam inf., HamJ—(v. *. ex Hort. CalcJ
Ardor, cortice cinereo glabro, gemmis pubescentibus. Fotia. 6. Jragrantis, sed
minora, utrinque glabcrrima. Pedicelli gracQes, pollicares, incano-puberuli. Petala
glabra, interiora pollicaria, eiteriora | brevionu
G. lateriflora^ Blume, is evidently closely allied to this species as well ad to the
preceding. All three seem to vary much in the size and shape of the leaves, but to
be readily distinguishable by the inflorescence.

lanceolatis acuminatis nervo central! superne velutino subtus piloso,
pedicellis axillaribus brevibus bractea ovata acuta stipatis, carpellis
bvevistipitatis paucis ovoideis velutinis.
HAB. In prov. Tenasserim et Tavoy, Wall, ex A. DO. I. c.
We cannot identify this description 'with anything in Wall Cat. from Tavoy, so
that probaHy the only specimens of this species known are at Genera.
